On 23 October, BritCham Shanghai organised a visit to Taicang, Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, for an international business delegation, with AustCham Shanghai and the FinnCham China–Shanghai Chapter as co-organisers.
Led by the three chambers’ executive directors, the delegation brought together representatives for factory visits and an exchange with local government, exploring Taicang’s industrial strengths and business opportunities.

The delegation began the day at Reckitt’s Taicang factory, where participants visited the warehouse facilities and production lines, gaining first-hand insights into the manufacturing and packaging processes behind Dettol products. The visit also provided an opportunity to better understand the factory and exchange views directly with the management team.

Over lunch, the delegation met with local government officials at a meeting chaired by Mr. TANG Zhengdao, Deputy Director of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Taicang Municipal Committee and Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of the Taicang Federation of Industry and Commerce.
Ms YU Yingzhu, Vice Chairperson of the CPPCC Taicang Municipal Committee and Director of the Taicang Investment Promotion Bureau, warmly welcomed the delegation and highlighted Taicang’s strong industrial foundation, well-developed infrastructure and convenient transport links. She reaffirmed the city’s commitment to further opening up, noting that the opportunities available in Taicang would continue to expand.

Stuart Dunn, Executive Director at BritCham Shanghai, highlighted Taicang’s relevance to the Chamber’s members, “Taicang is particularly interesting to our members because of its strong industrial foundation and well-established international business community. The city has developed significant strengths in advanced manufacturing, automotive components, advanced materials and healthcare, supported by its location in the Yangtze River Delta and its connectivity with Shanghai”.

In the afternoon, the delegation visited another BritCham Shanghai member company Suzhou Daofu Chemicals Co., Ltd., Noble Isle’s manufacturing base in Taicang. The delegation learned about the brand’s development history and its experience of establishing operations in the city.

BritCham Shanghai will continue to organise business visits and exchanges to help members better understand the industrial strengths and commercial opportunities in Shanghai and the surrounding Yangtze River Delta region.

Divided into groups, participants then explored Noble Isle’s product range and manufacturing processes, and learned about fragrance blending and perfume making.
