On 27 July, BritCham Shanghai was delighted to meet with the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce (SCOFCOM).
Ms Zhu Yi, Deputy Director of SCOFCOM welcomed BritCham Shanghai Chair Ray Chisnall, Vice Chair Ted Wan, Executive Director Stuart Dunn, and the Chamber delegation.
During the meeting, Ray expressed the Chamber’s gratitude for the continuous support provided by SCOFCOM to the Chamber and British businesses. Ted and Stuart also shared updates on the Chamber’s recent activities and highlighted the key focus areas for the rest of the year. The Chamber looks forward to enhancing dialogues with SCOFCOM and exploring more opportunities for collaboration and exchanges.
SCOFCOM shared an overview of British investment and British business development in Shanghai, and appreciated the Chamber’s tireless effort in supporting and facilitating UK-China & UK-Shanghai bilateral economic, trade and investment relations. Both parties expressed their commitment to strengthening communication and cooperation to further enhance mutual trust and benefit.
The meeting also delved into various topics, including ESG initiatives, B2G roundtables, recognition of multinational companies’ regional headquarters and foreign-funded research and development centres, among others.
Representatives from SCOFCOM Foreign Affairs Division, Division of Foreign Investment Administration and Division of Foreign Investment Promotion and Invest Shanghai also attended the meeting.
