PwC China Economic Quarterly Q3 2021

17 Jan 2022

China’s GDP growth slowed to 4.9% in Q3, but still grew by 9.8% in the first three quarters, as the lingering pandemic exerts downward pressure.

Summary

The report consolidates the major indicators, policy updates and hot topic analysis around China’s economic growth in Q3 of 2021. Overall, the economy continued to expand in the first three quarters of the year. By end of Q3, GDP reached 83.31 trillion yuan with a 9.8% growth year-on-year. However, the key challenge is to seek a balance between steady growth and epidemic prevention and control in Q4 this year and Q1 next year, especially since the 2022 Olympic Winter Games will officially open in Beijing on 4 February.
