Strong leadership is increasingly fundamental to the successful realisation of an organisation’s vision and purpose. This intensive course provides a valuable opportunity for directors to explore strategic leadership issues both within and beyond their organisation. This module introduces a more personalised approach to leadership and delegates will be encouraged to understand and develop their own self-awareness and emotional intelligence.
British Chamber of Commerce Shanghai cordially invited you to attend the two-day ‘Leadership for Directors’ course, delivered by the Institute of Directors (IoD) on 7-8 April, each day from 9 am to 5 pm, in the office of BritCham China in Beijing.
The Institute of Directors (IoD) was founded in 1903 in London and within three years we were awarded a Royal Charter to support, represent, and set standards for business leaders nationwide. We are the oldest business membership organisation in the world, and we have about 20,000 members, including over 3,000 international members. We are also the only organisation that awards ‘Chartered Directors’ across the world.
Gain an understanding of the key competencies required to be an effective leader at the board level with the opportunity to practice and develop some of these competencies. During the course, you will assess different leadership and decision-making techniques (including bias), determine how to build, and sustain high-performing and diverse teams, manage conflict, and influence others, and evaluate how these can be applied to your own organisation to contribute to its increased success.
By attending this course, you will gain the knowledge and skills to:
The IoD Award in Leadership for Directors (LfD), is a module of the Certification in Company Direction Qualification provided by the Institute of Directors.

“It was great to join the Finance for Non-Finance Directors training delivered by the loD. Guided by the really professional and experienced loD trainer who has been on the board for many big international companies herself, I found the training extremely thought-provoking and helpful for both my daily work and mid/long-term career development. It enabled me to look at finance information from a totally new and more strategic angle… The course is very well structured and tailored for directors like me who are not specialised in accounting or finance but would really need to know how to make critical decisions based on finance analysis.”

“As an over two-decade finance professional, the Finance for Non-finance
Professional Director course actually brought me quite some refreshed views to my finance practice and reminded me of some knowledge gone over time. I would like to encourage senior managers of all backgrounds to participate in the course to benefit not only from the course itself, but also from the instructor and peers with diverse experience.”

I highly recommend the Finance for Non-Finance Directors course. It has been
presented in a sophisticated and professional manner, with comprehensive materials and a highly competent and experienced tutor. Despite having worked for several multinational corporations for almost 20 years in senior leadership positions in business and marketing, this course provided a valuable opportunity for me to refresh, reflect, and enhance my financial knowledge, enabling me to contribute more effectively to boardroom decision-making.
