Thomas Schmitt-Glaeser, the General Manager of The Sukhothai Shanghai and Vice President for The Sukhothai Hotels & Resorts, brings over twenty-five years of experience in the luxury hospitality industry. With an impressive career that includes stints at renowned hotels worldwide, Thomas has honed his skills in key cities such as Bangkok, Shanghai, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Beijing during his tenure with the Shangri-La hotel group.

Educated in the finest traditions of hospitality, Thomas holds a Master’s degree from the Hotel Bavaria Management School in Altoetting, Germany, further solidifying his expertise in the field. Throughout his career, he has garnered several accolades, including recognition as Outstanding Hotel General Manager by ‘Travel + Leisure, and Annual Hotel GM by ‘Grand Hotels’.

Drawing inspiration from his lifelong passion for travel and hospitality, Thomas is dedicated to working in the luxury hotel industry. He is driven by a commitment to achieving excellence in both product quality and service delivery, laying the foundation to reinforce the hotel’s commercial objectives.

After graduation, I became the assistant to Ying Shuling at Hero Games, then joined Tencent Games’ TiMi Studio Group, where I worked for two years. Later, I joined INS新乐园, where I was responsible for brand marketing, digitalisation, user experience, the stand-up comedy business, and now the Friends Club.
