Edward joined the bank in April 2022 as a China Macro Strategist and based in Shanghai. His main coverage areas include China’s onshore fixed income markets. Prior to this role, Edward worked as a China Fixed Income Analyst at Guotai Junan Securities. Edward joined J.P.Morgan in 2016 where he was an Associate in Chief Investment Office Market Risk. He began his career as an Associate Analyst at Moody’s Investors Service in Credit Policy Research. He holds a B.A. in Economics from Renmin University of China and a M.S. in Quantitative Finance from Fordham University.

Chris is Policy Adviser for BritCham Shanghai’s Executive Committee. He combines an international perspective with a deep understanding of China’s political, economic, and social landscape, gained through extensive experience in government, business, and civil society.

At Brunswick, Chris advises multinational company leaders on geopolitical risks, regulatory issues, and public affairs in doing business between China, the U.S. and Europe—areas where the Chamber’s members face unprecedented challenges.

Chris served as a UK government official in China from 2015 to 2023, holding prominent roles for the UK Foreign Office and Department for Business and Trade at the British Embassy in Beijing and Consulate-General in Shanghai. Earlier in his career, Chris led research on China’s Belt and Road Initiative at the Global Environmental Institute, one of China’s leading NGOs.

Chris was awarded an MBE by Queen Elizabeth II for his services to British foreign policy. He holds an EMBA from China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) and is fluent in Mandarin.

Joanne is the Founder and Managing Partner of Capital Eight, a corporate finance house headquartered in Shanghai.  Her investment banking career spans more than 40 years, having worked with UBS, Jardine Fleming (JP Morgan) and GE Capital across Europe, UK, USA and Greater China.  At Jardine Fleming, Joanne was a member of the first dedicated team of M&A professionals based in Asia and was internationally ranked as a leading Asian-emerging markets corporate finance advisor.

Joanne actively represents the foreign financial services industry in China.  She is a former Chair of BritCham Shanghai’s Financial Services Group, Vice Chair of the EUCCC Investment Working Group, Chair of AmCham Shanghai’s Ethics Council and inaugural Chair of AustCham Greater China.

She enjoys mentoring young and aspiring tech entrepreneurs and currently sits on the Advisory Boards of 3 tech start-ups focused on Web3, marine renewable energy and life sciences.

Joanne is a regular speaker at international conferences addressing aspects of China’s financial services sector and the China investment environment.  A graduate of London Business School and the University of Adelaide, she reads, writes and speaks Mandarin.

Shane began his career in July 2007 when he joined the Shanghai office of PwC. He specializes in providing comprehensive tax services to clients involved in large-scale mergers and acquisitions (M&A). In addition Shane also serves as the UK country champion of the Inbound and Outbound Services Group of PwC China, providing tailored solutions for clients engaged in cross-border business between China and the UK.

His expertise in M&A tax can be categorized into three key areas:

1. Pre-deal tax advisory – This includes investment structuring, financing structuring, and tax due diligence, enabling transaction participants to accurately assess deal value and identify the most tax-efficient transaction pathways.
2. Deal execution support – This encompasses negotiation support and transaction document review, helping parties bridge information gaps and make well-informed decisions efficiently.
3. Post-deal tax optimization – This involves designing strategies to optimize overall tax efficiency, identifying and mitigating tax audit risks related to business operations, and advising on the integration of tax, finance, and business functions. These services help clients maximize transaction value, enhance cost efficiency, and improve shareholder returns.

Shane primarily serves large investment-focused financial institutions such as private equity and venture capital firms, including KKR, Advent Capital, CVC, Boyu Capital, Gaorong Capital, CMC Capital, and CBC Capital. Additionally, he advises major state-owned and private enterprises actively seeking overseas investment opportunities under the “Going Global” and “Belt and Road” initiatives, such as Yongjin Co., Ningbo Huaxiang Electronics, and Hailiang Group.

Beyond his professional work, Shane is a frequent speaker at conferences and seminars on Chinese tax policies, restructuring, and M&A. He has participated in events held in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Singapore, and the United Kingdom.

In terms of professional qualifications, Shane became a member of CPA Australia in May 2007. He is currently one of the youngest members to hold the prestigious Fellow Certified Practising Accountant (FCPA) designation.

Shane has a wide range of interests and is passionate about the study of tax theory and practice beyond his professional responsibilities. He has a particular focus on how demographic economics influences the formulation, implementation, and regulation of tax policies across different countries.

Yue FU serves at Haleon as a LT member of Global Corporate Affairs, and Head of Corporate Affairs China BU. He leads corporate reputation, internal and external communications, policy and government affairs, and corporate ESG agenda.
Prior to this role, he served at Mondelez International and Carrefour respectively as VP, Corporate Affairs, with coverage extended to culture innovation, agile organization, and industry regulatory.

FU is a well respected professional in Public Affairs. He was accredited “Figure of the Year” for Dandelion Award and Golden Flag Award respectively. He is a long-serving student mentor at Shanghai Jiaotong University.

Brian is a serial entrepreneur and the founder of Uptick Network, which builds web3 and AI infrastructure for the real economy, covering RWA/NFT, loyalty economy, fan economy, creator economy, green economy, sharing economy, supply chain finance ,etc. Its mission is to boost Web3 innovations and transform Web2 businesses, bringing fairness, ownership, transparency, and economic sovereignty to the next-gen internet, enhancing lives globally.

His entrepreneurial journey is extensive. In 2010, he founded StarryMedia in Shanghai for social media marketing and O2O/e-commerce solutions. Before that, he was CTO at Microsoft MSN China, iKang (healthcare), and VP of technology at Linktone (wireless value-added services). In 1999, he co-founded RivalWatch in Silicon Valley, a pioneer in Internet BI for e-merchants.

Brian graduated from Tsinghua University with BSEE and MSEE degrees. He’s a senior TEEC (Tsinghua Entrepreneur and Executive Club) member and was president of the Tsinghua Alumni Association of Northern California (2004 – 2005). Based in Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Silicon Valley, he continues to drive innovation.
