Business leaders should embrace AI’s transformative power to shape innovative business models and processes by focusing on human-centred AI to realise results and impacts.

Event details

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is changing the face of work, our economies, and society (McKinsey 2024). Businesses worldwide are embracing AI’s transformative power, reshaping how they operate and innovate (The Conference Board 2024). To regulate the rapid advance of AI and to protect the interests of stakeholders, the EU Council has approved the world’s first AI Act – stating comprehensive rules surrounding artificial intelligence technology (European Parliament News 2024).

Last year, Goldman Sachs Research predicted that generative AI could boost GDP and raise labour productivity growth over the coming decade (Goldman Sachs 2024). A lot of executives can see the economic potential of generative AI. Yet even those who see benefits report a lack of knowledge about AI, concerns about privacy and security, and concerns about over-investing in an early version of the technology. According to business surveys, very few CEOs expect AI to significantly impact their business over the next one to three years. Most executives expect a significant impact over the three-to-10-year horizon (Goldman Sachs 2024).

AI is a double-edged sword. On one hand, using AI can exponentially improve effectiveness and efficiency. However, on the other hand, it can bring risks to privacy, integrity, the economy, and humanity (The Conference Board 2024).

This hybrid event – “AI for Business Leaders – Opportunities and Challenges” – aims to shed light on the following:

  • A quick overview of the evolution & revolution of the AI landscape.
  • Applications of AI in different contexts, i.e. banking, education, and SMEs, to boost performance, productivity, and innovation.
  • Survey results reflecting on views from customers and stakeholders.
  • Innovative business models with Generative AI.
  • Digital transformation and the key levers driving AI in organisations: strategy, governance, architecture, and culture.

Following the presentations, there will be a panel discussion. We will delve into key considerations below:

  • The balance of opportunities and challenges for Artificial Intelligence, which is undergoing an exponential period of advance (Goodall, The Conversation 2024).
  • Co-ordination of a “healthy ecosystem” to encourage talent, technology, private and public sectors cum societal participation.
  • Strategic insights business leaders need to drive innovation and plan their next moves, from business, organisational, and cultural perspectives, to unleash the next level of human potential.
  • Ways forward to ensure that Artificial Intelligence is inspired by people, created by people, and most importantly has an impact on people – forming human and AI double helix (Fei Fei Li cited in Goodall, The conversation 2024).
